One year down, forever to go!

Well, it’s the start of another week! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed mine…

We took a mini vacay to Panama City {about 2 hours from Pensacola} with some of our good friends. Unfortunately, we didn’t take many pictures, {it rained the entire time} but the memories we made are some that I will never forget! We had a blast. I’m so thankful that God has placed some amazing friends into our lives.

My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary yesterday {August 18th}. Here’s a little recap of our day :)

Our day started in Panama City, of course. I woke up next to my loving husband with a dozen of beautiful roses! {One rose for each month we’ve been married}. We ate breakfast with our friends, and then they were headed back to Pensacola. Michael and I stuck around PC for a little longer. The rain cleared for about an hour, so we hit up the beach before heading home. I absolutely love the beaches in Panama City. Something about them is better than the ones in Pensacola. Or maybe I’m just partial because I lived here for 4 years growing up!

As you can see from the beach photo, the weather was not lookin good. Once it started to sprinkle, we were out of there! Only to face a down pour of rain the whole way home. We both had the closest experience to a lightening bolt while in the car. It was huge and cracked down literally right in front of us. {Scary for me, but Michael thought it was cool of course}.

Anyways, so about halfway in between PCB and Pensacola is a little town called Santa Rosa Beach… also known as where we got married. Our venue– Bentley’s on the Bay, is conveniently located off the highway so that we can pass by and reminisce about our special day. And since it IS our anniversary.. why not stop?!  We ate lunch off 30A at Bud and Alley’s Pizza bar {after all, it is our anniversary, so we are allowed to splurge on our favorite food}. It was pouring down rain and we got soaked in the process, but it was fun! Across the street from where we ate lunch is Crush Wine Bar. This was where our rehearsal dinner took place, one year ago =) Of course we had to take a picture in front of it! I really wanted to take a picture at our wedding venue where we exchanged our vows, however it was pouring. We did manage to take one photo!

Once we got home, we showered, popped a bottle of champagne, and took a couple of photos before heading out to dinner. I made this chalk board sign from the same chalkboard our ring bearer had around his neck at our wedding ;) check out the before and after!

All it took was a little chalk board spray paint! I bought the flowers from hobby lobby and hot glued them on! The chalkboard is also from hobby lobby. I painted the edges white with acrylic paint. Super simple, cheap, and cute eh?!  {I think my nephew is the real cutie though} =)

We had reservations for 7 at the Melting Pot. Fondue is fun & delicious! It was a fabulous dinner. Unfortunately my phone died, so I only got a couple of photos in the beginning.

We had a little bit of a detour on the way home. As we were driving along 110, a truck passed {and almost hit} us going 100 mph. Up ahead a moment later, he side swiped/crashed into the side wall of the interstate. Thank goodness there was no other traffic out besides us at the time. Michael started following him and immediately called 911. The guy got off at the next exit, was swerving all over the place, ran multiple red lights, and just when we caught up with him to get the tag # for the police, he had already crashed into 3 other cars at the next intersection. Michael pulled over and was a witness. I’m so thankful God was looking out for us on that highway. Michael said he was close to hitting us from behind… could you imagine with him going 100 mph?! I was freaking out a little. I realized I have one heck of a husband though, he’s so brave and doesn’t even realize it. Love that man!! Here’s a pic of the accident. Only 1 person was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. We found the  drunk driver on mug shots this morning, charged with DUI and traffic violations. No bueno…

Back to our anniversary… we got home later than planned.  After eating chocolate fondue at dinner… the year old wedding cake did not sound very appealing. But we had to carry out tradition and at least taste it. So we did :) The icing was like eating straight sugar. The cake part wasn’t bad though. We’re going for round 2 tonight… hopefully it will be a better experience!

We didn’t have time to watch our wedding video either. Lifehouse wedding films was our videographer and created an amazing DVD of our entire wedding day. Here are a couple of the trailers~ These videos are great at capturing the highlights of our big day!

Last but not least, our anniversary gifts! The best gift of all is marriage and the love that we share. However, diamond earrings and a tool chest are great additions! :)

We had a great {one year} anniversary. Excited for the years to come & what God has in store for our marriage!
